Personal response: These poems hold such truths about children and how they interact with the daily operations of a home. One of my favorites is The Interrupter, which is about how some children will not have anything to say until the phone rings.
Classroom connections: After reading this book, I feel that students may have a great deal of personal experiences to share. I thought it would be a great idea to have the students draw a picture of an experience they had and then have a story circle where they would be able to tell the story about their picture.
