Summary: What do you do when the lights go out?  Well in this modern world it is difficult to imagine this happening.  Spending more time as a family is the start of something magical.

Personal response: This book reminded me of the many times our electric goes out and we entertain ourselves by playing games, cards, and spending time with family.  I think it is good to bring the family closer together and have some time away from electronics.

Classroom connections: I would use this book to start a lesson on how we live sometimes without even talking to each other.  I think it is important to show students that time away from electronics is important.  They can create a weekly family game night or just go outside to get some fresh air.
